THE 10th SPRING COCONUT

29th April 2012

After a very dry early Spring, and the declaration of drought  across the south east of England, and knowing that it only takes the announcement of a CLFTGC tournament for the weather to change, the Spring Coconut was played in wet and challenging conditions. However, that would not deter eight brave souls, determined to get their hands on a Coconut.

As we had a pair of younger players, and a number of soaky olders ones, we adapted the normal course to avoid the longer throws towards the road, and improvised a few of the holes. Still, we played a good nine and the match was well-contested.

Richard was the winner of the Adults' Coconut and Nat took home the Junior prize. Some of us then went to the zoo, others to the Crown and Goose for a fine Sunday lunch.

In the Summer, I shall wait until the weather is awful before setting the date for the Watermelon - a sure way to bring on the sunshine!

NOTES

As noted above, we made the round fairly brief and with a few amendments from the 3rd hole onwards.

We did play our regular Hole-in-one chance, but nobody was successful - still we all had a plum anyway!
