THE 8th SPRING COCONUT

9th MAY 2010

Despite the excitement of the General Election during the week, for most club members, the highlight of May 2010 would be the 8th Annual Spring Coconut. A message was sent out on Facebook but it seems not everyone received it and so attendance was rather disappointing, with just 4 throwers lining up at the first tee.

The weather had been mild and dribbly over the weekend and although the course was windy the conditions were there for a fine round.

Rob H was the deserved winner of the Coconut which he clinched on the final hole. Dave scored two holes-in-one along the course, but inconsistency cost him. Raj managed to lose one aerobie up a tree and Ben did little of any significance over the 11 holes.

We then all headed to the Edinboro Castle for a drink and a chat about the round. the pub was pretty empty. Here's hoping the same fine weather greets us for the Summer Watermelon!

NOTES

We played the course fairly conventionally, cutting down to the Church Mound after the Red Leaner. From there to the Horse Chestnut, Birch on Hill, Big HC, path HC and finishing with the Orange Ring tree back on the edge of the large lawn.

Dave was the only player to score a hole in one, in fact scoring two, neither of which were on the short 9th. He was awarded a brace of Kiwi fruits for his record-breaking feat.
