THE 7th SPRING COCONUT

17th MAY 2009

Once again, the day for the Club's latest tournament opened with a deluge. Many potential players might have been put off by the conditions, but as Tee-time approached, the weather improved markedly. And as we began our round there was bright sunshine; the Frisbee golf gods were again smiling. The wind was  a problem on some of the more exposed sections of the course, but the round was played in fine spirits - and for the first time in a while, we were all playing as one group.

Everyone used aerobies or variations on the product and the scoring was impressive.

Lyndsay, a newcomer to the game, was the worthy winner of the Ladies' Coconut - let's hope it's the first of many. Ben won the Men's section.

We then all headed to the Edinboro Castle for lunch and in all it was a wonderful day. Here's hoping the same fine weather greets us for the Summer Watermelon!

NOTES

The variable winds on the day made the long holes fairly tricky, but there was only one major "aerobie up a tree" incident - it was soon recovered. But it was decided not to risk the Church Mound hole due to its proximity to the road and so from Red Leaner we threw towards Big Horse Chestnut (as in the original course) and from there to the Birch on Hill.

Victoria scored a hole in one at the short eleventh and was rewarded with a plum. Ben scored a hole in one at the first and was similarly plummy.

Matt and Angela arrived for the last two holes and both promised they would return for a full tournament later in the year.
