THE 7th AUTUMN AUBERGINE

22nd November 2009

It had been a rainy week and the Sunday of the Autumn Aubergine was rainy as well. Many players, understandably, worried that the tournament would be postponed, but the club has played in harsher conditions than these. It would take a "Noah Event" for a rain delay.

And so we assembled at the first tee and were refreshed with clementines. And as the start time rolled around, the clouds parted, the sun came out and the match was played in bright sunshine. Once again, the frisbee golf gods were smiling down on us.

We split into two groups and began the round. There were a few adjustments to the order of trees played (see below) for reasons of time and convenience, but ten good competitive holes were played.

The Men's Aubergine was won by Rob H (his first victory) and the Ladies' by Erin in her maiden frisbee golf tournament. congratulations to both of them. The last two holes were played as one great group, in order that the excitement of the hole in one chance could be shared, and this year a record set of players won a plum. Well done to all of them.

After the match we headed to the Edinboro Castle (just as the rain began again) and enjoyed lunch, warmed by mulled wine and winter pimms.

In all, yet another fine tournament, closely fought but in a fine spirit.

Let's hope we have such luck with the weather in February for the Winter Pineapple!

Here's wishing all the club members all the regards of the festive season and a happy 2010 - with lots of frisbee tree golf fun!

NOTES

The course was adapted for the number of players (including two youngsters. The fourth hole went from straight on to one of five, thus missing the southern extension. The seventh hole went from Red Leaner to Big HC. The eighth from Big HC to birch on hill. This made the ninth the short hole in one, and the final hole ended at the horse chestnut near the path.

Three players in the tournament scored holes in one at the short ninth, but joining us were Dave G who accomplished the feat, and Robert, who played the last four holes for a score of 12. They were rewarded with a plum
