THE 10th WINTER PINEAPPLE

5th February 2012

Crikey, what a difference a week makes!
In the announcement message the club sent out, it was noted how mild the winter had been and that frisbee tree golf was a similarly mild game. Then, of course, it snowed and the thermometer plunged. By the time the match took place, the lawn had a good blanket of snow, but the sky remained clear for the tournament. And there was nothing to stop a dedicated group of players from having a fine round!

Seven members assembled and off we went - all using aerobies except Rob H. We cut the southern extension and made the last hole target a snowman in the middle of the lawn - thank you sir!

Rob W won the Gentlemen's Pineapple after a pointless playoff caused by bad addition, and Toria was the vitresse of the Ladies' competition.

Off we then went to the Edinboro Castle, for hot chocolate and spiced warm Pimms. We look forward to more clement conditions for the Spring Coconut - needless to say there will be no comment about the weather in the invitation!

NOTES

At the short 9th, holes in one were scored by Rob W and Dave - they won golden plums!

The long southern extension was cut but 11 holes were thrown - an ideal number for a us all going round in one group.

I had added up the scores incorrectly and although the Robs played a tie-breaker hole, Rob W was the correct champion. However Rob H's commitment to a conventional disc while the rest of the club played with aerobies (or similar rings) is to be applauded.
