THE 6th AUTUMN AUBERGINE

30th November 2008

The last morning of November 2008 was cold, wet, and blustery, but the club has faced such conditions in the past and said "pah!" in their cold faces. And on this occasion "pah!" was definitely said. While it took a little time for the players to assemble at the first tee, once we started playing, the spirit of the game, the camaraderie formed by such a large group, and a very pleasant break in the weather ensured a thoroughly enjoyable match.

Rather than splitting into groups, the club headed out en masse from the first tee and we were off! It was decided to shorten the course again since there were up to 16 frisbees in play at a time, and the wind was a factor. But each hole was very competitive and the winners were not decided until the very end of the match. Unusually, there were no holes in one at the short 11th (or 9th as it was played this time) and so plums were generally awarded at the end of play.

Jane W won the Ladies' Aubergine in a fine return to form. There was a tie in the Men's competition between Gus in his first match and Dave Go. In the playoff hole Dave just edged the match and so he was presented with the Aubergine.

We then headed to the Edinboro Castle for drinks (warm Pimms and mulled wine) and Sunday lunch.

Let's hope we have such luck with the weather in February for the Winter Pineapple!

NOTES

As noted above, we skipped ahead at hole four, throwing from Straight On to Pine Hidden by Holly. No final hole from the usual 12th was played apart from the playoff for the Men's Aubergine which went towards a London Plane at the edge of the lawn.

Judith only played the final four holes of the tournament.
